Our large local CPA firm client seeks a strong Accounting Manager with both public accounting and industry experience to join this growing accounting consulting practice. This group provides accounting and bookkeeping, project management and other services to clients in Houston. Due to growth, this company seeks a strong, long term player, and they offer an opportunity to advance to partner. Some of the additional job responsibilities and details include: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and review and compilations standards. Familiarity with attest procedures and the ability to distinguish between material and immaterial items. Ability to act as outsourced Controller for clients, handling more complex tasks and projects within discipline/function. Ability to effectively use Quickbooks and/or Peachtree and Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to complete work in an efficient and accurate manner. The volume of work during busy seasons is typically higher than at other times of the year.
Minimum Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA Required 5-10 years of relevant experience in public and industry accounting Public accounting or other professional services experience strongly preferred Must maintain required CPE credits annually Strong communication skills with the ability to apply understanding to carry out and to give instructions in written, oral, or diagram format Reviews work of less experienced staff and shares knowledge to develop staff technical skills. Recognizes complex technical issues, evaluates facts efficiently, and uses strategic decision-making skills to assist management in solving problems. Follows regulations and professional ethics of state bodies appropriate to discipline, including AICPA Plans and manages engagement activity and follows through to achieve results Recognizes needs and issues pertinent to client activity and demonstrates ownership of engagement?s day-to-day tasks and activities. Provides accounting training for clients including accounting software, account reconciliation, and general bookkeeping. May write procedures. Builds client relationships and maintains smooth working relationship. Keeps current on all professional pronouncements and educates lower level staff on application of technical knowledge Is proactive in seeking opportunities to achieve target chargeability (determined by Practice Leaders). Understands that time may be spent in both the Firm?s offices and/or the client?s premises. Additionally, client service activity may not always be predictable, and may be subject to immediate change or on-call requests with very short notice.
